The National Gathering took place over three days from 15 to 17 September 2025 in Port Douglas. Below are some of the commonly asked questions in the lead up to the National Gathering

How do I register?

Registrations are now closed for The National Gathering.

Who is eligible to attend?

All prescribed body corporates (PBCs) under the Native Title Act and any organisation or body asserting First Nation or clan representative status is eligible to attend. This includes: Land and Native Title Councils, representative and community-controlled organisations, local and regional Assemblies and Alliances.

All representatives must be Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people / Traditional Owners.  Non-Indigenous people are not allowed to attend this Gathering. 

How much does it cost to attend?

The National Gathering is a free event for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and Traditional Owners nominated by their Traditional Owner representative organisation.

How many people from each organisation can attend?

We recommend 1-2 representatives from each organisation and encourage gender balance and youth representation.

What is included in the registration?

Registration includes access to all plenary sessions, major and regular concurrent sessions, daily morning and afternoon tea, lunch, and The National Gathering dinner.

Where is the venue?

The National Gathering is officially hosted at Sheraton Grand Mirage, Port Douglas QLD. Sponsored delegates will be staying onsite.

Getting to Sheraton Port Douglas

We recommend booking a return airport shuttle from Cairns Airport to Port Douglas with SR Coaches. You can make a direct booking via this link.

For sponsored delegates, airport transfers will be arranged by the organisers.

Special requirements

If you have any special requirements, disability, and/or dietary restrictions that we may address to aid your participation at the Gathering, please do let us know when registering. If you did not include these details when registering, please contact us as soon as possible so we can make the necessary arrangements.

Can my registration be used by multiple people?

One person may attend per registration. You cannot share your registration with others.

Does everyone in my group booking have to be from the same organisation?

Group bookings must be from representatives of the same organisations.

Can I transfer my registration?

Yes, you can transfer your registration to another person representing your organisation. Please contact us through claudine@kecreative.com.au to update us on the change of information and any requirements of the new attendees. 

Can I volunteer at the Gathering?

Yes, you can. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our team in making this an event to remember.

Can I speak or present at the Gathering?

The National Gathering is an opportunity for all representatives to have their voices heard and set the path forward. There will also be a number of keynote speakers.

Can youth attend this event?

Yes, youth who are members of their PBC or employed by the above mentioned representative organisation are encouraged to attend. This includes young directors and people under the age of 35.

Mobile phones

As a courtesy to other delegates, please ensure that all mobile phones are turned off or in silent mode during all sessions.

Photographs, videos, recording of sessions

Delegates are not permitted to use any type of camera or recording device at any of the sessions unless written permission has been obtained from the organisers.

Accident or loss

The members of The National Gathering organising committee and Ke. Creative accept no liability for personal accident or loss, or damage suffered by any participant, accompanying person, invited observer or any other person by whatever means. Neither do we accept liability for any equipment nor software brought to the event by delegates, speakers, sponsors or any other party. 

Please protect your personal property. Do not leave laptops, cameras, and other valuable items unsecured. Be conscious of individuals who appear out of place and do not wear a conference name badge. Advise Ke. Creative Staff if this does occur.

Travel and Accommodation Queries

For Sponsored Delegates
How will I know if my flights and accommodation have been booked?

Our team will book the best available flights based on the details you provide in your registration form. Once your flights are confirmed, you’ll receive your e-ticket via email.

Additionally, around three weeks before the event, we’ll send a final confirmation email outlining your full travel and accommodation arrangements.

What is the nearest airport to Port Douglas?

The nearest airport is Cairns Airport.

Where can I book accommodation?

We’ve secured special delegate rates at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort for delegates of The National Gathering, at a price of $445 a night. You can book your accommodation directly via this link.
